Just wondering if anyone who has done a roof chop could give me advice on how to go about it with the least hassles.

Thanks
Joe

Cut first and ask questions later..

kidding..

go to Volksrod.com and just look around..
Use the "SEARCH" funtion and you will find more info there than you have time to read... Don't join up and hit them with that question first up,(like you did here;)) they'll FLAME you..!!!
In short there are several different ways to do it, all are explained in there, all are difficult and be warned, they say the VW Beetle roof is one of the Hardest to chop...
Good luck...

Splity65 on here has not long ago done so...
Ask him. I have pics of the whole process but won't be posting unless he gives his blessing.

you need two rood sections, a good mig welder and a lot of patience and measuring. Try this site as a place to start...
