Ok,
not sure where to go on this one. !960 bug flat windscreen scratch to buggery. Wish to replace. Have been told that glass places can cut one for me
but not sure where (approx$70) in melbourne SE, suggestions???

I have a second hand screen you may be interested in.
Once you get it, come round to my place Tim and we can pop it in. If the old one in it hasn't got too much goo, silicon especially, it can take less
than 15 minutes with a new rubber.
New rubber probably only be $30-40 for a cheap one, maybe $80 for a better one. Maybe more, maybe less? Has yours got the aluminium strip in the
rubber, or all plain black rubber?
Thanks Pete,
The extra strength in the hands would help. Last windscreen I did Cath was not strong enough to assist it to get inproperly. The screen is scratched
but the rubber is pretty much brand new. Was hoping to get this thing ready for the VW jamboree comming up (26th) starting to run out of time. Need
to get something for screen soon. I do not think it will pass, but miricles have been known to happen.
Yes car runs stripping.
Here you go...

PS: A Straight screen cannot be any more difficult then the mighty EH screens..
I took the screen out of the old KOC and swapped into the new KOC finished in 20 minutes. That included removal of both screens, wipe window opening of new KOC (no sealer, original from factory, no rust either), string the rubber, run a bead of D mastic sealer around it, drop it in and clean up. Done. Easiest window I have ever done, and I have done it three times now on my own with no help. Done a couple of flat flat 6V screens too.

I just went and had a look and it has a few too many scratches, so I wont waste your time. Sorry Mate.
I picked up a new one from Windscreens Obrien - they just happen to have one in stock - from memory around $130 (but was a while ago). Last beetle I just took my old screen to a windscreen place and they cut one using the old one as a template - can't remember its cost though.
O'brien are actually very good at fixing imperfections and restoring scratched glass, they can even take out cracks (some sort of heat treatment I'm guessing)
Well I have found a screen but I cannot get it until tuesday (stupid long weekend).
For those interested I have sourced a new screen for $90. So looking all good.
Boxofrabbits, While windscreens obrien can repair the screens I am not too impress with teh care taken on the vehicle. not to say it is bad bad it
just not up to my standard. Plus it is a time thing. most windscreen people do not take the time to align the screens etc thus you get a screen in
the car but one that might not have sealed properly or sit properly. Again this is one industry that has gone doen the pay per job scenario, thus
usually quality will suffer.

PS: thanks for all help peoples. Peter I will be intouch about the extra hand in fitment. Windscreen guy did state to be super careful with the flat
screens as they do not have as much strength in them and most people that he has sold screens to have cracked them. Do not think this is a huge issue
as a 1948 rover also has a flat screen and I have done two of them in my time.
Make sure you fit a new rubber ... much better wit ha new glass and spray some inhibitor on the metal section under the rubber before you install it to stop rust

The person works on all the old school hard to fit stuff. like some of the old cadalacs and pontiacs. Things like the VG valiant coupe rear windows
where they are difficult to get in. has been in the industry for ages and comes highly recommended. Basically if no other windscreen place will
touch a car he is the one that will do it.
Cheers
PS: Sorry if the above was confussing.
