splitty wheel question
tdegens - May 15th, 2006 at 09:50 PM

Is it possible to get the bay window five stud pattern on the front drums for the splitty. I want to use the front drums and want to match the wheels with the bay setup at the rear.

do yourself a favour and get a 68 bay beam with ball joints and discs to suit you will have 5 stud and good brakes , if you plan to keep the splitty do it you will not regret it.....

How much work is it to fit the brake booster and master cylinder for disc brakes into a splitty?

t2 - May 16th, 2006 at 09:22 PM

lots of work , actually fitting the booster and master is the easy part then you will need to get the clutch to work again as it has to around the booster . some people use hydrolic clutch set up in my bus i used the cable in a tube guided around the booster had to extend the cable aswell , works well but was alot a farting about
if you can not find a 68/69 front end steve and tony at kombie rescue can modify a late bay front end to fit into your split ready set up with discs and a booster
failing that you can modify the ball joint link pin front end trailing arms from a late bus beam to fit into your link pin beam by machining the outer bearing face from 50mm to 48mm to accept the link pin bearing.
hope that makes sense then you can keep your link beam and use ball joints and discs from a late bay on it.
cheers darren
