Is it posible to redrill brake rotors and drums to suit another pitch circle diameter and a change to 5 bolts instead of 4. The pattern I want to use is a ford 5 bolt. If you have any expereince in this matter please lettuce know cause I'm being a nancy about it considering I can drill them at work with a digital read-out!
you can do it but it is the wrong way and illegal to do so mate the only way to change the pcd is blank rotors and drums.
The VW brake drums are only the correct thickness where the original bolt holes go...]
There was a case on here, where someone had redrilled the disc rotors and drums and when He was involved in an accident.
the wheel broke off the brake rotor... or drum...
The Beetle was totally wrecked....
and the insurance company wiped Him, as His car had redrilled rotors or brake drums...
I presume He had to pay for the other cars insurance??
You need New rotors and brake drums without holes...
these are available at most VW parts shops...
and have the thickness required..
cheers

yes it can be done but as there are only four reinforcing ribs at the back of the driscs and drums it makes restudding difficult. As 68auto says, it is possible to find drums and discs that are undrilled and with the uniform cross-section (ie no ribs) - but you need to look hard. You should also consider using studs rather than bolts
my 70 bug had porsche wheels
the PO redrilled the rotors to porsche stud pattern
they are type 3 rotors and if u work out the pattern u'll notice only one lug still uses the original raised rib
check out how thin the metal is where the rest are tapped
is only about 3 threads there
hence why these are not on the car anymore
i've got redrilled ones for my Lbug to but done to 4x100 honda/nissan/toyota pattern as these fit inside the vw 4x130 on the ribs

Shops like John Shermans on the GC can supply you new blanks studded to any pattern you want. Around $800-$900 for a complete set (drums and discs or
4 discs).
Be smart, people spend that sort of money on audio gear, hi-po tyres, trick lighting kits etc, and none of those things will prevent your untimely
demise.
Cough up the cash and get it done safe, legal and insurable.
vforce sell blank rotors
Yes V force has stock & Richard can drill to your required stud patten .He has stock of the studs as well on the shelf .
Tell him your from AVD he will look after you
