t3 floorpan & karmman ghia body?
guru - August 23rd, 2006 at 04:43 PM

Has anyone done this, tried this, know someone that has tried this...?
I've been told t3's & kg's use the same floorpan. Is this true?
If so, what mods if any, are required for the suspension beam?
Any info would be of great value as my ghia would be a big step closer to completion.

No, KG uses a Beetle pan/suspension with different floorpan halves.

I know suspension, steering, wheel base, track etc is the same & floorpan halves are the difference.
I have a standard linkpin with irs conversion pan currently underneath the body. I also have a balljoint irs pan to suit a beetle. I can buy & fit kg pan halves easily. When i asked for a price i was told t3 & kg took the same pan halves.
This just got me thinking if i can use a t3 rolling pan, suspension height mods can be fast & easy, better torsion bars, better gear ratios, better brakes.....it makes sence??
Or should i follow the crowd & do the norm!!
There must be someone out there who knows about this.

Pan halves - may be true. I don't know. But I do know that the Type 3 rolling chassis will not fit under your KG, But it woudl be nice if it did, for the reasons you mentioned!
