Heya Trace. Hit Damo up at deckeddubby, or email him c/o killerkustoms.com.au. He'll fill you in on all the pros / cons / legalities.

thanks... i have a supplier for the kit.. spoke with him at length about what i want etc etc. and have no probs with installation of the kit EXCEPT the bags and they wont install for me as the front end will need fabrication and they dont do it.
was just wondering if anyone on here has had it done.

When you say 'kit' do you mean an airbag kit or a 'kit' for VWs?

BIG difference, IMO

to clarify i can source a "kit" that according to the supplier (and i cant see why not) can be fitted to any car... they offer several different types of bags to suit different cars but the control gear etc is the same stuff.
It is the entire setup... tank.. compressor.. control valves & regulators... control panel... wiring.. hosing... fittings... 4 air bags... and full installation instructions etc....

Best to get a bit specifically made for a VW I reckon...or at least has been fabricated to fit. You could go OS to KCW, but as I said, check it with Damo - he does this stuff for a living.

...for a torsion-bar VW suspension?

It can be done - there was a bagged beetle at the '06 VW Nats - but without coil springs to simply remove and replace with a bag, you may be up for a several grand in chassis mods, fab'd suspension and engineers' reports etc

try looking at http://www.airkewld.com/
they have kits for VWs and the instructions on how to install them. They also are about to have a full front end replacement.

Cheers

Try the KCW forums, as they freely hand out pics, templates etc. Also try my myspace http://www.myspace.com/hoodride1  as I have a video about making an airbeam for early dubs. All the templates for the beam are available on the kcw forums along with many other videos etc.
