What gear box is this ?

It's a 2L box from a Caravelle...4 speed side shift.

Can it be converted to a notch, the same way a 2l kombi box can?

it can be, but it would be a lot harder to do. The only way that I know of to get the shifter to work is to make a cable shifter.

If it was me, I would sell the box you have and buy a standard shift box

Are yes side shift its out of a T3 Kombi

If your going to overhaul it it will be expensive or more than a normal Beetle box

Is it any good have you test driven the box in a van ???

Lots of work to fit it to Bug chassis its longer for a start
