Has anybody used different air flow meters in the kombi fuel injection system? As in can an air flow meter from another car be used?

There was anothe trhead on tghis a few weeks ago - some of us suggested looking at late-70s/early 80s BMW/Volvos etc with Bosch EFI. Some Nissans also used a Bosche-based system
