Howdy i came across a fiberglass frontend on ebay.
And its the perfect thing to get my beetle's front end uncrumpled after the insurance claim from hell ( 80% his fault 20% my fault but my damage was
less then his car damage and they refused to pay up :| yar i wasn't insured idiot.)
But i finally got some money together and thought okies this looks perfect, i currently have a 1968 beetle semi-auto, and i was wondering;
With these fiberglass kits how to they attach to the body?
How does the kit normally secure in the down position? (so it doesn't pop open when i brake :P
Anyone had any good or bad experiences or can point me in the direction of help?
Whats the deal with installing headlights?
Just cut a whole and mount a recess or something with some more fibreglass?
Any links or comments greatly appreciated, i really miss driving this little baby of mine.
lok at westi post pimping his ride it has a fibreglass front on it:thumb
Thanks for that pod (for those playing at home hes talking about this post)
The perfect thing to get your front uncrumpled is to pay a good panel dude, not buy some plastic from Ebay
beetles are a cinch to fix
The fibreglass fronts have been made for Drag cars mainly not for the streeters so attaching is done different on a drag car
Well i have had one of these #1 pannel beaters reccomended by the vw community down here in SA and they glued the pannels on and generally did a shit job. The last few times in its history it has gone to any pannel shops it normally comes out worse for wear.
You should first check with some insurance companies before fitting a f'glass frontend. Insurance companies suck bigtime, but you do need them, unfortunatley. They may deny a claim - pricks.
