Kombi studs
rocknrob - December 12th, 2007 at 08:07 AM

If you are thinking of upgrading the wheels on your kombi(and why not?) this may help. If you are fitting mags or even non VW steelies you may run into this problem:grind:

makes it worse if you are fitting discs at the rear

a solution for the back wheels is to fit studs out of the front hubs...10mm longer:cool:

but then of course you will need to replace the front studs

these are 75mm long but i cut then back to 60mm...still15mm longer

of course it is just not that easy...you have to get the rear hubs off...and they mightn't have moved in 35 years:no:

Then you have the problem of finding studs - I tried to buy some yesterday but 'nil stock' at my local VW parts place :(

rocknrob - December 12th, 2007 at 08:23 AM

and then you need to press the studs out and in....meet "hotoff" the press...definitely the rat look!

that little jack was gasping and so was I...be aware that the spline on the front studs is a tad larger and needs dressing down on your bench grinder

and then you end up with this...definitely more confidence inspiring:lol:

Are those 16in falcon steelies? So they're the same stud pattern as bay window kombi or do they need some mods to fit?

cheers, Scott
