Hi
Does anyone fit valve stem oil seals in a VW engine ??
I was told that they were fitted to new engines so that when the car was started in the showroom, there would be no puff of smoke from the oil that
had gone past the valve stems..
I prefer to have oil lubricate the valve stems...

Hi Lee
I used to find them in the sump of VW engines I serviced, they looked like diced olives. VW dropped them many years ago.

Because the valve stem is inclined at 9,5 degees, the oil will never drip into the intake port...only away whilst 'sitting'.
unless there is excessive wear that allows it to be sucked in past the stem.
36hp engines had zero degree valve angle so they may hav been fitted from new...just a square section 'wiper' O-ring.
But even then, only excessive wear will be a problem.
I forgot to say...
Mmmmmm.... Olives!
Your a sick man dangerous
