How do i find the year, month and date of when my VW was made ? i know how to find the year but i want to find the month, and if i can i wouldn't mind knowing the date.
Can anyone help me out on how to find out this information ?

If you look closely at the wheel rims (if standard and original ) it will have a year and month stamped into the rim between 2 of the wheel studs / bolts

there is also a month and year stamp on the back of the speedo.

hey guys, i cheked my rims and i couldn't find any year or month stamps... they must be original because it has the VW stamp on it and the car is in original condition. I cant check the speedo as i packed it away. (the car is currently in a restoration) do you guys know another place to look ??? :)

What model are we talking here anyway?
after 69 the compliance plate will tell you what month of the year it was built.

Part dates like rims and speedos are only usefull as a rough approximation.
They were all made long before the car was.

All of mine seem to be dated 4-6 months before the car was complianced.

My 9/74 Lbug has 4/74 rims and speedo, and my 2/71 Sbug has 10/70 rims and speedo

The date stamps on the rims can be hard to spot if they've been painted a few times
It's stamped on the rib between 2 of the lug holes.
