Clear reflectors - legality
Wild1 - June 13th, 2011 at 08:40 PM

What are the legalities of clear reflectors on the rear of the car if you still have the stock red reflectors fitted also?

White or clear reflectors designate front of vehicle, amber is the side and red is the rear.Obviously if they are on the rear you are telling the car behind that you are coming towards them and then confusing the issue by showing red reflectors which tells them that is the rear of the vehicle. Simply put white or clear on the front of the vehicle, amber on the side and red on the rear.

Sticking to correct standards helps eliminate collisions with vehicles in the dark. You really should stick to the standards.

Opinions aside, I can't find any ADR referring to additional reflectors??

not quite right chaps as new cars come with clear on the side and the rear as long as they flash amber and the rears light up red it is legal...

as regards to the original question clears are legal as long as you still have a red reflector and the lens has ADR aprovall on them.

i am quite sure that the ones for slae here DON'T have the adr stamps on them (ones i got didnt)

steff.................

Legal requirement to have 2 red reflectors on the rear. The ADR's are silent on any over and above this.
