I was looking on Ebay at some VW "Denver" wheels from a Polo GTI. My Superbug has a 4 bolt pattern but I'm about to overhaul the brakes anyway and
put some decent discs on the rear.
Can anyone recommend a front and rear conversion that will fit with the newer VW 5 bolt pattern? I know Volksconversions sell kits to match any bolt
pattern but are these kits any good? Are there better alternatives?
i've used volksconversions front discs with 5x112 vw/audi studs.....no problem. bought ball type nuts to match the wheels there also.
had the rear drums drilled and studded to match at engineer shop.
Where abouts are you?
Richard Holzl at Mortlake NSW did mine - but I changed to Porsche 5 x 130 PCD
I dont know the offset of the Denvers but that plays a major part of success
So does the centre bore hole size
your going to need centerbores enlarged - possible problem making the wheel weak depending ho how far - your axle nut/dust cap is rather large
compared to new cars hub centers
spacers are likely to push the wheels further out in the guard, its quite a high offset so will sit in a long way
you will need narrow springs/coilovers to have room to fit it under the guard & not hit the spring
the other issue if you want to be really really fussy is technically your effectively narrowing your track, illegal in the eyes of dept of
transport
hope that helps you get your head around whats involved, it can be as easy or as complex as you like depending on interest in it being legal/insured
in future
also, rear discs will need engineers approval/brake tests done in any state as far as im aware
