Exhaust for 1600TP w/ Dells
mickya - September 23rd, 2011 at 02:31 PM

Hi,

Just trying to find an exhaust for my current 68 Beetle resto, which has a 1600TP with 40DRLAs. I prefer something that exits the stock cutouts in the rear valance, and something that will last a while.

Ive come across this https://www.classicveedub.com.au/cvd_new/part_detail.aspx?parts_id=16612  would this be suitable, or can anyone recommend something?

Cheers, Mick

They are not bad

I had one on a 1916 with dell's and was ok

Biggest down side is the crappy join for 1 & 3 to the heater boxes
The clamp joints are rubbish - needs a flange
They leak, pop and fart

That said - if you are interested I have one for sale
You will need to put a set of flanges on your heater boxes or J pipes - but I have done the stainless side
$200 + post

Check out Vintagespeed, make some really nice stainless ones that exit through the stock cutouts.
Buy the genuine ones though not the copies!!!

Okay thanks guys, I'll look into the vintagespeed ones through the week, and if they're not ideal I'll contact you bizarre. Hopefully getting my car painted and such shortly so I'll start my build thread!

^^^ looks great! Vintage speed build one for bolt on heaters, so I think I'll go for that. Thanks for the advice!

Which one did you get matt? Did you buy locally or straight from vintage speed?

I bought direct from Vintage Vee Dub Supplies, cheaper and quicker than direct from VS.
I got the middle kit, 2.3 version (44), a bit too big for the 1916 but we have plans....
