Want to upgrade the very minor performance of my 1600tp and found CVD do Pobjoy machined blocks/kits which would perfect for me. My question is why would someone build up a 1776 over a 1916 for the same basic price? are there performance advantages betweeen them depending on application? A mate of mine had a 2180 in his back in the early 90s that went like stink(he didnt drive it very often though!) and I would like to build up something reliable but enjoyable!!
94's open up the heads more
"to some degree" you would be safer with 90.5's and stock heads
In the early days I believe 94's had a thinner wall and were susceptible to warping
things have progressed a long way from the 80's
A 1776 in stock or turbo form is still a popular choice.
There is also a gazillion 1916's out there and daily driven - mine included
Nutshell - a mixture of personal and engineering choices
If youre going to do a full rebuild then increase the stroke as well and make it an over 2lt motor.......plenty of them as daily drivers as well

Also is there much clearancing needed in the block for a crank that size?
