lowering a 75 L beetle.
RATWGN - July 30th, 2012 at 01:12 PM

I have a 75 L beetle that im wanting to get as low as possible.
I no you can relocate the spring cup but Im no welder..

Is there a straight strut replacement you can purchase that will get the car as low as i want. I don't want to modify the strut either encased i want to raise it again later on.

This will be simple if you have 3bolt front, if not you need a few other bits to convert or just buy new coil overs from vforce, top line, kwsuspensions...

3bolt struts allow you to go the lowest, flip tie rods to avoid bending, top line & v force sell kits for that.
I could have mine sitting on the ground essentially, adjustable bushes, vforce struts, kmac strut tops & top line flip kit with tie rods from vdub engineering in Canada.

The 74 onwards Lbugs can only go down 3" before they strike geometery issues.

As above you can put the 71-73 super front end in, they can get drop a good 6", that's what I ended up doing with mine.

Are you just looking at the 3 bolts at the top of the strut tower in the boot?

They're fine if you wanna stick with stock wheels.
Anything wider though you need the narrow coil overs.

cheers.
ill be sticking with the stock wheels so ill grab those.

Make sure when you swap over the springs and crap from your stock struts that you fit the bump stop rubbers or you will be forever bending the tierods everytime you hit a decent bump.
