Subaru Help PLEASE!!
zeuspig - March 11th, 2013 at 09:19 PM

I am so close it is crazy but it seems there is a problem with getting this engine to fire over.

We have all the timing marks in place, but it seems like there is something wrong with the timing still, it backfires and the firing sequence is not correct.

This was a fly by wire engine which I changed the manifold/wring harness, I also changed the Cam Pulley today as it was suggested that it would be needed to be done with the change over.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

subaru motor is a pretty general description....but assuming a few things......:)

I know you have stated the timing is correct but...... make double sure you have the crank shaft sprocket on the right mark.

There is a couple of marks on the crank shaft sprocket and is very easy to set to the wrong one.....me and a few mates discovered this the hard way.....

pretty sure that it has a wasted spark due to the coil being separated one per bank left and right if that complicates your diagnosis of not firing in order....( some models have a coil on each plug lead like the EZ30 H6 etc)

does the cam sensor have the correct air gap ?

ie is the sensor the correct distance away from the cam wheel ?

1 to 2 mm max ?

did you time it correctly ?

what cam wheels did you fit ?

what motor is it ? quad cam ? single cam
