Surely someone has cracked this problem before? Surely?
has anyone discovered a "plug'n'play" starter that'll work with a Volkswagen 1.9 diesel conversion on a KEP adapter plate in a bay window
bus?
I need to know urgently as I'm on a deadline to get the van finished!
I'm hoping beyond hope someone will just tell me to go to the breaker's yard and bag a starter from "x" car and pop it in. Please please
please?
I thought I had it cracked when I discovered that a starter from a Skoda Felicia diesel (European market) fit straight into the 1800 transmission and
looked like it would work. I now have a 2-litre box fitted in place of the original 1800 box. I remember reading somewhere that the 2-litre box has a
deeper bellhousing than an 1800 box. Would swapping the bellhousings allow the starter to be closer to the flywheel and maybe engage? As it is, the
pinion spins freely on the key, it's not engaging the flywheel at all.
thanks in advance
good luck , diesel cars arnt to popular here in Oz
really? ah well. I'm in such a bind to get this van finished, I posted this question on all the engine conversion forums I could think of!!
