Hi There. Can anyone recomend a professional mechanic in Melbourne that does Subaru into VW conversions? Just interested in chatting about installing the engine and a 5 speed subarugears box and the engineering certification required etc..?...
Would you be able to register a 3.6L motor in. Ghia?
Good question I guess, but it's not very different output to doing a 2.5 Turbo? Any ideas on an engineer I could discuss that with?
In NSW it is VSI 06 I believe it is 3.0 X the original mass for a car up to 1100kgs.
I believe the mass is the original mass ?
VSI06 refers to the NCOP.
http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/registration/downloads/vsi/vsi6.pdf
NCOP - http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/vsb_ncop.aspx
For 800-1100kg cars you can go 4.0x the mass.
Thanks. Any tips for Victorian regs or Victorian based engineers?
Helbus and myself have both done suby conversions, his being a 2.2 and mine a 2ltr sti turbo into our kombis,
Pm me if you want to check out my kombi and i can show you whats involved.
cheers
Ripper, PM sent..
Thanks.
Click on the link at the bottom of this post and I have a Suby conversion thread of what I put in my bus.
I would estimate you may end up spending tens of thousands of dollars and you would be wise to ring an engineer first to see what is required.
The KG T34 was 880kg originally, so my engineer tells me that a 3.6 naturally aspirated isn't an issue. Which is great... Current issue is welded spindles don't make the cut and all the good A-Arm suspension have welded spindles...
Hi
That's good news about the motor sizing, must be different to NSW, it was 2.5 x forced or 3 x factory weight. I've heard that has now changed for
the better.
