fuel pump relay ej 25

i'm wireing up a 2003 ej 25 into a syncro and don't seem to be getting power to the fuel pump,have power to the relay when ignition is on but not through to the pump,does it need the motor to crank to trigger it or should i be looking for something else

It should prime when you turn the ignition on just like your VW one would have, it should power up when cranking and running

thanks, its not primeing with the ignition on so i'll go back recheck everything
