64 BEETLE FITTING A 2.2 SUBARU MOTOR, i WANT TO FIT A RADIATOR AND AIR CON RADIATOR IN TH WHEEL WELL, DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEAS. OF MAKE AND SIZES
PLEASE.
THANKS GUYS
My 70 Beetle when I got it which would have the same room as yours had an RX4 rad, probably from the donor car but I had a spare radiator for the 318i BMW which fit perfectly.
some Audi ones fit
but best to get a new custom one made to take full benefit of the space you have to fit it
just pop into your local radiator shop and ask for some advice.
Hey Paul,
I pretty sure you could fit 2 small motorbike radiators in the engine bay
nope motor bike ones go behind the front wheels on a bug. or
you get a long jeep on for in the engine bay of a bug , but first you need to drive over it in your car to bend it to the right shape

Just messing with you Ian, knew you had to bite.
I'm using an aftermarket alloy golf mk 2 radiator. Perfect size for the wheel well.
the one in my mates dub works in the this way , I think it was out of a Audi ???
Dual flow
This simply means the coolant passes through TWO times instead of ONE. Which, even more simply put means TWICE the cooling and half the size radiator

these guys make these little Radiators that cool up to 600hp cars
THANKS FOR THAT GUYS
just wanted to mention that a Porsche "centre " radiator for a 996 or 911 is only 170mm high and 610mm wide 41mm thick and suitable for small
thermatic fans 180mm diameter.
Could be an option to help with cooling rather than motorcycle radiators. they have 41.. entry and exit tubes so reducers are necessary.
Going to use one for my trike when my recoed ea81 is rebuilt
I have searched for years for radiators that fit..
When Jak, Paul and I did the conversions(10 years ago now) can you believe that shit.. I used an Alfa 33 Radiator. It was the perfect size.. fit two
10 inch thermos behind it and slid in easily. The problem was the inlet and outlet were on the wrong sides and I had to cross them behind the rad
which sucks.
I now have a massive(too big) alloy rad from a skyline and cut the whole front of the car off and fabricated a new front which bolts to the pan and
which the guards and front apron bolt on. took ages...
Get a custom one made which is about 560mm wide and 300mm high with top inlet on passenger side and outlet on the bottom driver side.
For a super bug or l bug I recently put a mazda 626 radiator in a mates car and it was wide and low with the right hose placement.
I had an aftermarket radiator product catalogue with all models and their sizes that I got somewhere. You can just look till you find one that fits
and then check ebay for price.
Matt
The earlier the beetle, the taller the radiator you can use..
