Baja Air Con.
Bone - January 17th, 2015 at 09:29 PM

After spending this week on Fraser my wife has decided its time for air con in the Baja or replace bug with Cruiser or Hilux !!! Well after all the yelling had stopped (from myself)
I have decided that a Ej22 air conditioned Baja would be the solution. I have a complete subi liberty donor at home so am thinking of using as much factory liberty parts as possible and maybe a "speedy air spares" under dash hot rod unit. Can anyone shine some light on the most straight forward air con solution?

have a look what Joel did on his

A simple solution would be an aftermarket evaporator mounted in the parcel tray area blowing up an over

the return air grille would just mount in the tray top

Baja so I'm assuming standard Beetle.
Easiest way around would be stock subi compressor, an underdash evap unit with the vents and facia and mount a condenser in front of your radiator then the rest is just hoses and such.

If you use an early Liberty compressor I've got the compressor fittings modified to fit flex hoses for a bug I never ended up using as I bought a brand new compressor which had different fittings.

When I did my V6 I used the entire climate control unit from the Mazda MX6 front cut I bought. It took a lot of work, took away most of my under bonnet storage, but works well and looks cool. I used air vents from an MX5.

Far out Wes thats "unreal" but I know my limitations so will be sticking to something less technical!
