What rotary engine can I legally fit in my 1966 bug?
do i need engineers approval prior to getting rego?

Best to talk to an engineer first, the rules have changed regarding maximum engine sizes/weight of car, I cant find the relevant facts at the moment

Hi

I still cant find the correct document in the RMS site but in NSW under the new regulations, 4x factory weight for NA motors and 2.75x for forced induction.

If you were to change to a later pan from a 1500 with IRS your car would take on the factory weight of a 1500 Beetle which may help in your case.

BTW a NA 12A is classed as 2.4 litre by the RMS and a NA 13B is classed as 2.6 litre.
