have a 2002 ej 25 in my syncro has been running with no problems for 6 years ,parked it the other night and put the battery charger on it,now it won't start ,fires when i turn the key and just dies, fuel pump cycles when i turn the key, thinking it may be the immobilizer,as it does the same thing with or without the subi key in place any tests or thoughts would be much appreciated, have tried bypassing the fuel pump relay and running the fuel pump non stop but still didn't start
Any codes
try the ignition module they usually fail with no questions
got it running this afternoon ,engine light is on all the time , hard to keep it idling 400-500 rpm, not real good at reading the codes but looked like 12,25 and 53
12 starter switch - it is not seeing the signal that tells it you are trying to start the engine
25 don't see a code for 25
53 immobilizer system
I would start with the ignition switch, they lose the ignition signal while you are in the start position. The engine may start if there is enough
revs after coming off the start position but they don't see the start signal to set up the ECU.
I forgot the start signal on an install, it would start but ran like crap.
thanks have a spare ignition switch will try it tomorrow
25 - Fuel injector No. 3 and 4 (XT-6)

i've swapped the ignition switch and now the check light goes off after starting ,i can hear and feel the injectors working, but the idle is still around 450,also the codes don't seem to clear
The ECU stores historical codes, to clear you need to disconnect the battery for a while or use both the test plugs to clear the codes.

yes i cleared the codes and still had 12 after i ran it, cleared it again and now have no codes with the black plugs just a regular pulse and no engine light when running ,but won't start without a bit of throttle and struggles to idle, don't think the ignition switch had much to do with it seems to be the same with either switch
fixed jammed up idle control valve
Well done. Go cave a beer
