Below is a link to the first post of (probably a long) thread regarding this problem.
Does anybody here know of any history of problems in Aus with HG failure on the 2.5 litre engines?

.the factory coolent should all ways be used .
No I don't, but fitting a an EJ25 SOHC was my favoured option. I just want to get some fix on the extent of the 'problem.'
Andy.
I have never seen a problem with the heads , I have a EJ 20 n/a quad cam ,jap import ,this I am fitting to my trike .The oem coolent is the best , as
they have acid ran the out side of the motor is a bit tarnished .The inside of the motor is as new . What are you fitting this to .I have a few
adapters from this motor to type three auto in the shed I will sell them soon , seagull

Seagull the problem seems to be only with the EJ25. There is no mention in the thread (that I have linked to) of any problems at all with the other
Subie engines.
My research has led me to the conclusion that the EJ25 SOHC has the best low down torque of the EJ's.
I am looking to fit one in to my 1990 Syncro so I doubt that you would have a suitable adaptor?
Andy.
Seagull,
I don't have one but I hope to one day in the not TOO distant future.
Andy,
heard abit about this issue before on turbo engines. Does anyone know whether the issue is a probelem on the sohc or dohc donks. I have the dohc unit so I am anxious to find out and prevent it happening.:o
