what is the biggest legal size motor you can put in a splitty van here in QLD.
Thanks
Andy
i think that all depends on what sort of modifications you are willing to do. if you are willing to use a renault 5spd box, late model front end, custom disks front and rear, my personal preference is a 6cyl subaru boxer engine, sounds great (bit like VW engine) and huge KW and torque for size and weight. alternatively, you could go a gen3 V8, lexus V8, old chev big block, u could even mid engine. i think as long as you do enough safety modifications the sky is the limit.
to day and would think you would need a lot of bracing to hold the motor in .I would be a bit scared the motor would twist the floor .If you have a
look at the post twoguns posted you would see the rear pipe support just to hold the twin cam donk in .mate I have been dreaming about the toyota v8
in a spilt> But as a mate has one in the race car can tell you the Hp these put out is wild ( stock ) >I would have a go at the subaru turbo But
stay away from the SVX 3.3 ltr .
There is a big weight differance with the v8 as well ( as you would know )
Just think of the crack as the turbo changes gear !! sweet man . seagull still does not have a split !! cry now
well they weigh about the same as a bay so I guess a V8 is easy. remember they are commercial vehicles....
