inquiring about a number/code on a beetl eengine that will identify it as capable of being run on Unleaded Petrol

i dont even know if this is the right place to ask.. please forgive me if its not..

i heard that from '67 on the engines were Unleaded.. but my engine is a 1600 that is newer than my '68 Auto Stickshift

i'd just like to be 100% sure Before filling up w/ unleaded.. and also how does one go abot tuning so it dosent ping w/ lower octane?

Just a tip - put something relevent to your question in the subject you should get a quicker response :)

Your engine will run OK on unleaded (ULP) some people prefer Premium Unleaded (PULP) if you do a search on PULP you should get lots of hits.
