Hi Guys,
I've been lurking around this page for a long time. What a great site! I could'nt resist posting a few pics of my conversion. I started the project
last october and last month I took my first trip with the new motor. We went to the Newfoundland mountains in the west desert of Utah. I could'nt be
more pleased with the subaru motor!! I'd like to thank Peter W. for all of his help and for his web page. Wes I really liked your page as well. The
first pic is of the conversion is about 3/4 of the way through. The second is of the first trip out and I think it sums up how fun the subaru is.
Thanks to all for all the help,
Bob

You guys are nuts, love it. what sort of hp are you getting with the conversions.
here are some pics. the first one just before Zak was regoed and the last one as he is now with an air scoop for the high rear mount radiator.
Power output is 119kw at the flywheel. Not as much as wes, but still real nice
now...with scoop and radiator box
Haven't posted for ages.....here's just a few pics.
Will post some more in a month or so.
Looks awesome......
There is obviously alot of work chopping the roof...how much did you take out and where exactly do you take it from?

Hey Reub;
love the go-cart setup with just the cage and pan.
you should drive like that, that nasty steel body will add far too much weight :P
Reub that is great. I knew you wern't just setting around. I can't wait for you to get it back on the road. It will be wild. If mine is half as
nice as your I will be pleased.

I Got the EJ20 started tonight! I took some pics, and dumped them in my webpage folder (havn't updated the webpage yet). Link is HERE Its booked in at the engineer next thursday.
Hi there,
I am installing a Subaru EJ22 into my `65 Bug. It has a `68 IRS pan, Porsche brakes front and rear. Here a picture of the engine with the trans and
one of the engine.

here's the 3.8 litre v6 in my bay.
ran a 16.2 at A.I.R. at 78 mph with stock induction and stock exhaust and a grabbing clutch, so I couldn't launch with any rpm, cos I had to hold my
foot on the brake instead of the gas.
a few little bits, and it'll be in the 15's.

Any pics of any T3 conversions, esp with EJ22??????
My project is a Eureka kit car based on a '68 T1 semi-auto pan. Motor is EJ20 n/a.
This pic taken with the lower rear panel removed. Lots of work left to do.
My inlet manifold was too close to the rear fire wall to fit the rubber tubing. I could not extend the firewall back due to the bracket for the fuel
tank and i could not use the 90 degree vertical elbow because of the low engine cover height (raising that would block what little view I had out the
rear window and ruin the nice profile of the rear deck).
My solution was to cut the end off the inlet and weld on a tightly mitred 90 degree bend.
Hi guys this is my conversion. It's getting a 5L V8, the transaxle is a Porsche 915 5 speed, the trans conversion was simple, all i had to do was fabricate some mounts, and after many hours of research found that late model transport CV's have the same PCD as Porsche drive flanges and were able to fit the kombi half shafts with no modification, every VW shop had no idea either did Porsche shops finally a CV specialist in lidcome sorted it out, he didn't want to make the shafts so we sorted through a lot of CV's to see which would fit. clutch is sorted all i have to do is set up the shifter and the box install is complete. Also am setting up a full autometer dash and putting in bucket seats in the rear with harnesses. Will keep you posted i want it running for the CBB dyno day
Nice to see another V8 conversion in progress.
What is the longitudinal dimension of the 5 litre?
Will it fit with the original kombi engine lid closed? Is it alright for height and width also?
What is the diameter of the copper piping you are using for the coolant lines?
Good work! Hope to see it at the CBB Dyno Day!!
hey fozee my bus is in the middle of a heart transplant it used to have a leyland 4.4L v8.
look. will measure pipework later. my old v8 used to fit under the engine lid fine thats because my bus has been stretched 6 inches.
cheers
