Finished...................
Jak Rizzo - December 9th, 2004 at 12:39 PM

It was only off the road for 5 weeks, cost $3800 for the complete conversion, engineered first go, is as quiet as my Holden Vectra & goes like stink & I did it all myself.
Bliss.

regards
Jak

I will be the first to say - schweet !

Well done, and congratulations. Bet you havent wiped the smile off your face yet !

Let me know if you ever consider selling it... I mean, I'd have to paint it red I guess, but its got potential.......

Bloody Fantastic.

Hows about an action shot ? Maybe hanging the rear end out at about 6000rpm in second, with big clouds of white smoke off the rears ?

Midlife crisis - December 9th, 2004 at 01:52 PM

lugnuts - December 9th, 2004 at 04:10 PM

Hey i just remembered wheres the rear wing man.:duh

Kai.A. - December 9th, 2004 at 04:14 PM

i've gotta say well done! i don't think many people out there could carry out such a conversion in that timeframe and for that cost!

i personally think it looks a whole lot better without the wing too....

great stuff!

kai

type2nut - December 9th, 2004 at 04:43 PM

Beautiful Jak.

I'd like to see an engine shot too, and definately leave the wing off! (just my opinion of course)

I will start my conversion after new year - i also am hoping to have my vehicle off the road for a very short time. You have set a benchmark. Well done.

Andy.

vw54 - December 9th, 2004 at 04:45 PM

Looks good Jak how did u go with the thermostat n cooling initial probs did u check the compression ??

looks great mate

Jak Rizzo - December 9th, 2004 at 06:10 PM

It was just an air lock Dave, took the header tank cap off, started it up & watched the water disappear, added 2.5 litres & it's been sweet since. Ended up being pretty simple.

Jak

Jak Rizzo - December 9th, 2004 at 06:13 PM

Oh , & the exhaust isn't staying like that, it will be changed tommorrow, totally concealed with only my centred outlet.

Jak

boof2332 - December 10th, 2004 at 12:54 AM

I finally got a drive in the beast on the weekend, and its hard to explain....a few will know what I am talking about.
One of the quickest daily drivers on the road!

Well done Jak!

Baja Wes - December 10th, 2004 at 08:04 AM

So do you think you will be building another VW motor Jak?

Jak Rizzo - December 10th, 2004 at 08:25 AM

Oh yeh, I'll still build vw engines for friends , but the next engine I build for myself will be a 2.5 ej20T using a Forrester Block.

Jak

MikeM - December 10th, 2004 at 09:49 AM

very cool

what gearbox did you end up using?

gayanne - December 10th, 2004 at 01:38 PM

Good one Jako, stick to the 2L ej20t its the better then the 2.5l forrester. You still have a shit long way to go to develope what you have.Wait to you have 300hps then you will know what nappy rash is.JVLRacing

71superbug - December 10th, 2004 at 01:47 PM

what suspension and brake setup do you run??

Anthony

humpty - December 10th, 2004 at 02:02 PM

Well done Jak....Glad to see the wing has gone....Car looks much more agressive like this (IMHO) ;-}

As for the next engine....

All the HiPo WRX guys here in Perth are buying twin turbo front cuts and sticking the EJ20T intake and single turbo stuff on them....

Apparently the Twin turbo engine is a much stronger donk.....

But the US spec EJ25T is looking like nice combo....Way better than Turboing a local 2.5 too.

Alex Holzl - December 10th, 2004 at 02:49 PM

hey jak

Looks sweet, u not using the wing anymore? Would look like a sweet sleeper if ya put some stockers on!

alex

Jak Rizzo - December 10th, 2004 at 03:26 PM

Just using the standard box, I don't do drag racing so I think that it should be fine if respected for awhile...........

Brakes are type 3 front rotors, cross drilled with type 4 calipers, the rears are DBA cross drilled rotors with Ford Falcon calipers & brackets.

Yes Alex, the wing is gone, want to buy it?

Jak

gayanne - December 10th, 2004 at 04:20 PM

Hey Jako, did a little homework on Rigoli subie he is using stroker kits which the original block still ej20 stroke 2.5.JVLRacing

pete wood - December 10th, 2004 at 04:43 PM

congrats Jak, welcome to the wet side of the force :)

why no more wing?

BTW, how many pairs of new undies have you needed to buy :D LOL

Mikey-56EJ20T - December 10th, 2004 at 07:28 PM

Hey Jak,

You are an inspiration to all of us just starting out on our EJ20T conversions. Would really appreciate any hints, tips, advice you could offer. Car looks awesome and I'm so glad you've lost the wing. A fw more shots would be great. By the way, when yousaid that you kept the standard box, which box exactly is that?? What about gear and diff ratios??

Cheers mate,

Mike.

Mikey-56EJ20T - December 10th, 2004 at 07:30 PM

Hey Alex, don't suppose you have any Aeros that your looking to sell??

Brad - December 11th, 2004 at 12:05 PM

I forgot ask, did you keep the low ratio box or did you put the stock super one back in? How are you finding the ratios?
