The next ej20T street car
Jak Rizzo - December 17th, 2004 at 07:11 AM

We finally have some decent pics of Matts creation.
Features ej20t with bigger uppipe to the turbo, small TD04 turbo has been taken off & replaced with a ball bearing STI turbo running 18psi of boost, Microtech Computer, Sti air to air intercooler, 4 wheel disks, etc etc .
Should be an absolute weapon, especially considering I'm only running 7.5psi of boost at the moment!
Can't wait to go for a drive Matt!
regards
Jak

mit interkooler yah?

boof2332 - December 19th, 2004 at 08:24 PM

Funny...I have been looking at styles of rear spoilers today.

Not sure which style...doesnt have to be to big...although I am leading towards an electric one like this......This is up!

71superbug - December 19th, 2004 at 09:32 PM

that like something from the new beetles/porscheS? would be pricey woudlnt it? and maybe a lot of work? :S

boof2332 - December 20th, 2004 at 08:13 AM

My mate is going to make it for me...if I do go ahead with it. He has a machine that can mould certain sections from drawings...like a cnc machine..then stick them al together and glass it!

Will probably just have a small ducktail rs carrera style with venting on the top for the cooler. Just needs to vent some air and give some stability to the rear on the track.

YUMMMM!

boof2332 - December 21st, 2004 at 08:24 AM

That looks awesome...

Where did you run your intercooler on the old one?
Was it the radiator or the intercooler that was mounted in the wing?

Matt

Doug Sweetman - December 21st, 2004 at 09:59 AM

ohhh yeah that looks sweet reub. Very nice colour that you finally decided on.

Now comes the fun bit - putting it all back together again. !

reub - December 21st, 2004 at 10:27 PM

Cheers!

The intercooler runs in the wing with twin 12" thermos. Kinda more function than form but have refined what was there. The core is 600x360x60 by PWR.

boof2332 - December 22nd, 2004 at 09:39 PM

Got this today cheap...and it works(goes up and down). Will post a pick when it is the new beetle deck lid. The wing will raise when started and stay up till turned off.

Hopefully tomorrow night the car will run. The motor has been in and out again in the last 12 hours due to a flywheel clearancing issue..ll good now though.

I love you're oval. It looks excellent and really tough. Painting the interior red is brillian. What a great custom idea. Gee there's a lot of work in your project. It's up there with John Van Looks.

Well done.

Doug Sweetman - December 23rd, 2004 at 12:13 PM

Brilliant idea ! How awesome would it be to see these two head to head at the drags !!! (yeah, I know JVL's is a roundy roundy racer, but still would be a fantastic sight !)

type2nut - December 23rd, 2004 at 05:38 PM

It would be great to see these two head to head.
I've got nothing against roundy roundy racers (used to rally one) but to see a couple of serious dak daks hitting it really hard would be great!

Andy.

Doug Sweetman - December 23rd, 2004 at 05:39 PM

Amen.

gayanne - December 23rd, 2004 at 05:39 PM

VWCOOL - December 23rd, 2004 at 07:18 PM

Top stuff, lads! Very, very nice.

boof2332 - December 24th, 2004 at 01:00 AM

Gotta love missile switches...what a wank, but they are cool. I mounted my dual stage boost controller on the inside of the glovebox with a velcro pad holding in the hand held lcd unit, which you can pull out for tuning or have it facing the driver to check engine stats. The missile switch is mounted to the right of the wheel and when armed will instantly increase boost to the set level...kinda cool to look at.

Why not have a head to head.....aim for easter weekend??

Matt

boof2332 - January 22nd, 2005 at 01:20 AM

Neil,
My U2U is playing up. On a mates computer and it is blocking it!

Well......I just drove the car for the first time......having a few issues with the idle. It seems the temp swith is faulty and reading 124 degrees..it is really lean and we cannot over ride the input. Was really fun to drive, the boost is not wound on at all and the thing whistles like crazy. Tomorrow should see a longer drive..

Matt

seagull - January 22nd, 2005 at 01:39 PM

Keep the temp gun close by and do some readings , you dont want to cook it !

get a can of Subaru valve cleaner and run it into the motor , tells you how on the back of the can , gets rid of the crud on the valves , big differance !

boof2332 - January 22nd, 2005 at 02:53 PM

Still not working properly.
Temp switch has been replaced and the reading is still 124 degrees..maybe airpocket there.
Car wil not idle and has a miss....its like the plug leads are around the wrong way.....will keep trying.

Matt
