Hey Champ,

Ive done a little research on this and have found this is the best site for general info:

Lextreme

Its a big toss up for me weather to go Toyota V8 from the 1uzfe or Subaru with the EJ20T.

In the end i think its EJ20T parts availability, economy and ease to modify that has it.
No doubt the 1uzfe is a serious contender especially with it being so advanced, cheap, easily acquired and only approx. 700mm x 700mm x 700mm in physical dimensions.

Good luck and please keep us posted

Ryan

Thank you for the info .
yes the V8 is a nice motor , a mate here races this in a class one , but I never seen the auto been used in a conversion to date .

I keen to see what can be done as have a few autos laying around .

Hee hee , well Max blew a rear off the rim >I was left with the car half way allong the beach .max came back in about an hour with the ford , replaced wheels.I then got the race car bogged due to 4x4s stuck on the beach & kids running around .

It was a good day and I know how max got the name MAD MAX , man we hit some big hills flat out .

had the car is some silly spots , brian had to snatch us out .
I was suprised how Brians car goes this the holden 2ltr , verry good .

I had sand in every orifice , that was not so nice :o

I have heard people say that the gearbox is a real dog, very tempramental when not used with the stock ecu.
I dont know anything about it myself so....

I just purchased a 1UZFE and Trans on the weekend and found the trans to be rather small and light!

I could pick it up and move it myself and id have to guess its weight to be around 80kg.
Not real heavy or big for and auto trans designed for a strong powerful engine.

hi seagull
in the jan 05 issue of aust street rodding there is a company (castlemaine rodshop PH; 03 5472 2853 or http://www.rodshop.com.au  ) that developed a bolt on kit to fit GM powerglide, turbo 350, 400 and 700 to the 1JZGE, 1JZGTE, 2JZGE AND 2JZGTE MOTORS. i know they are a 6 cyl but there might not be that much dif between the motors or there could be a v8 adaptor in the pipeline
anyway give those guys a call they are pretty clued up on conversions.
cheers
