EJ20T identification

Hi All
I am trying to install a EJ20T in a 72 Bug here in the US. A lot of EJ20T engines are available. Is there a way one can read numbers off the block and identify what year it came from?. EJ20T model cars were not sold in the US. Please comment.

one little trick is to take of your oil cap and have a look at what year is on teh inside of it. Ok it is not a totally reliable way but it may give you an idea.

Lol, no more power straight away, it will have about 260bhp as is so I'm not needing any more. More out of interest than anything... I'd also like ot know more about when the fifth injector was used.

HAve a Google for The Ultimate Subaru Message Board, they have a heap of info and may be able to help. They are US based too.

I used to have the link but lost it. Its a good site - I used to hang around it a bit when I had my Liberty RS Turbo.

So an oil cap marked 6/3 would likely be June 1993?

There is no such engine as an EJ20T, that's all you'll find on any 2 litre Subaru block.

The turbo engines have the oil connections on the back of the RHS head, you'll know it when you see it.
