Cooling System

A bit of backgound info: My Buggy is ea81 Subaru powered with the Radiator mounted up the front. Usually it works very well, been to Frases Is and back from Rocky appr.1200 k round trip. Last weekend we went to the Stockyard Point /Five Rocks area north east of Rocky. I found on both long steep inclines and declines the engine temp increased markedly. Seems like I might need an electric booster pump in the system. Anyone else experienced a similar problem or have any other ideas.

I have a video of some of the action and the area, I'll post some photos at a later date.

hi
i have had a few ea81 pwrd brumbies n got one presently..
my ex was a vw/subie mechanic (female) n the trick to keep em cool in the summer was to cut the center out of the thermostat n it would run at a lovely cooler temp for the hotter months..
then when it got cooler we just put in a regular new thermotat so it wouldn't run too cold over winter time then as it got hotter... well you get the gist..
been doin it for years n don't have temp probs any more...
also a good idea is to get radiator checked n flushed for blockages...
pain in da ass job but got to eleminate all the possible causes you know...
hope this sheds a bit of light on the subject..;)

declines?

the only explanation I can think of is that your have some serious air trapped in that system. So uphill the air bubble sits in the radiator and allows no cooling, and on downhills the air sits around the water pump and stops the cooling.

But it flatter ground the pump would get water and the radiator would at least be partly full.

Sounds like something strange is happening anyway.

Cooling System will not just stop working properly. If it was fine before it will be fine again.

Check your hoses and system for leaks, if it has none then look at it for air leaks. Also check your timing.
