although my car seems to have been cruising nicely with its subi ea81 engine, it is loosing ALOT of water, as in upto 4l within 100km! doesnt appear to eb any real sign of it coming from the radiator cap (which is new) the top heater hose appears dry, the 2 hoses appear dry where they mount to the radiator appear dry and there is no sign of water leak when the car is stopped. any ideas where the hell all this water could be going?
Get a pressure test done on your system. Thats a lot of water to be getting "lost" Hope it's not getting into your cylinders....via a head gasket leak..
or from cracked or corroded heads,as my sons vl commodore had corroded water jackets into combustion chamber,it had coolant injection:o because previous owners ran straight water instead of coolant with a alloy head
Check the dip stick for water in oil.JVLRacing
havent noticed any milky oil yet, but was intending to check again today.
If not boiling and deffently no leaks, dump the oil just to be safe.JVLRacing.
just checked the oil again after puttering around today and definitely no water in it. found that i was missing a thermostat, so replaced that today, re-adjusted the bottom hose on the radiator (looked like it may have been leaking a little there under pressure) sounded like it did boil a little today, but think/hope that is mostly cos we over-perssurised it (put the cap on whilst revving) looks like a trip to a pressure tester soon.
