moving the trans forward, how exactly ???

I've seen the pics posted by Subaruboxer but will turning around the rear transmission mount give enough clearance to fit a suby engine.

I've read some people needed to move things forward 10 inches (about 25cm) and others only 7cm.

How much would be needed to fit a quad cam EJ20 and does anyone have detailed pics of the relocated front mount?

This I'll be starting work on moving my '78 bus trans forward to put in the EJ20 TT.

Its impossible to move it foward 10 inches...the angle of the cv joints wouldn't function, or reach. turning the bracket give 2 inches, this is enough to fit in your ej20tt. Then buy either a berg front mount or most make it themselves...very easy and cheap even to pay someone.

10 inches sounded very far fetched to me also, good to hear turning around the trans bracket will be sufficient :)
thanks for the info boof2332

Hi

Im moving mine 100mm or about 4 inches, this needs major surgery, I have to cut out the torsion bar section, reinforce the chassis and run short torsion bars.
