what is a "half cut"

72RSbug - June 10th, 2005 at 01:15 AM

Thats's a real good price for a TT with the ECU included, I've seen the ECU allone being offered on ebay for 350 US dollar

half cut is like half a car. u get the engine and gearbox and stuff from the front of the car.

I was thinking along those lines, thanks for the confirmation.
All we need now is a chart with what all the ea32 etc are with subie motors. There seems to be a lot of talk and quotes of these engines but I don't know what any of them are..
All I know is when they hang the radiator on the front it looks shite.

In the eye of the beholder......

Might not be the best thing to say when you're asking for info on Subies:thumb

Who is to say the radiator has to sit on the front? :duh

bajachris88 - June 10th, 2005 at 03:04 PM

agree with that. see this:

bajachris88 - June 10th, 2005 at 03:05 PM

At thats a rear set up for this buggy:

bajachris88 - June 10th, 2005 at 03:06 PM

And heres a rear radiator from a kombi from an earlier post:

bajachris88 - June 10th, 2005 at 03:09 PM

And heres another from a previous post in which the radiator is placed under the vehicle. (As you can see, it has been caged, hence why it doesn't look like a usual radiator)

helbus - June 10th, 2005 at 03:10 PM

Whoa you are quick. You put a pic of my radiator under the bus before I could. ;)

bajachris88 - June 10th, 2005 at 03:12 PM

LoL. Hope u didn't mind.:)

However, I am yet to see a beetle with a rear radiator. Only seen beetles with front radiator setup. There has to be a rear one somewhere....

Radiator under is OK, discreet, clever even but hanging off the front is shite.
i'ts got nothing to do with aircooled V watercooled crap, just the appearance.

bajachris88 - June 10th, 2005 at 03:38 PM

Yeah, I aggree with you mate. having the radiator out the front takes the trademark, renouned vee dub facade away and doesn't look that good. (Well in my opinion).

At least if you have it under, its pretty inconspicuous. I would like to work out one day how to set one up in the front bonnet of a baja beetle with a bonnet scoop. (The scoop would be there to allow the air to go in and cool it). But I will wait until I get a beetle or wateva, just got that tight space with the fuel tank in the way. Perhaps have the bonnet scoop up near the fuel tank, with piping directing the air down to the radiator. Oh well, just some food for thought.

:)

Here. I think this might be an intercooler for a turbo, but theres no reason you couldn't mount a radiator the same way.

where is it hanging out the front on that buggy?

bajachris88 - June 10th, 2005 at 03:42 PM

Actually, I quite like that. Very nice buggy. I think he is refering it to when people get the radiator, and stick it on the front bar work. (On the front bumper bar). Cause I dont mind that, but I dont like the idea of the radiator sitting out, tied to the bumper/bull bar.

But that buggy radiator setup is pretty Cool. (lol, literally, cause its now water cooled, ah! Sad joke, but works)

You wouldn't happen to have a larger pic of the buggy front would ya? Cause I wouldn't mind that for my wallpaper, if u dont mind.

Oh, thanks for that beetle pic (I put the URL and it came up with that rat beetle). Yeah, It was posted before on here, and I thought it was a radiator. Others mentioned intercooler, but yeah, either way a radiator or intercooler could be placed there. Actually, I dont mind the look of that either. Sorta comes out like a chrome spoiler/whale tale a bit.
