I am new to the conversion thing - quite "seasoned" in bugs however. I'm looking to put an EJ25T in my baja but am having a difficult time deciding on a transmission. I could go the bus trans route, but I want subaru gearing so my motor will boost at decent curves. I have considered going mid-engine and fabricating a WRX transmission into my car with a cable shifter.

What other options should I persue? Someone suggested I look at the 914 side shifter.

a subaru transmission will not give subaru gearing in a baja as you have bigger back wheels. The 091 VW transmission with 31" tyres will give you good gearing for a subaru, pretty close to factory.

I hadn't even thought of tires. I've been so bent on speed and boost. Thanks for the advice.
