yeah, why wouldn't it be?

3 x 750kg = 2250cc

pete wood - June 23rd, 2005 at 02:35 PM

Actually, I meant the noise of the exhaust. I know the EJ22s are legal.

Baldy67 - June 23rd, 2005 at 02:44 PM

sounds great brad

Jak Rizzo - June 23rd, 2005 at 03:43 PM

Does sound awesome.
Mine seems half that noise & I only just passed the sound test. Was allowed 96db & I got 93.3db.
Is it different in QLD Brad?
regards
Jak

The difference between 93.3 and 96 is actually quite significant. Db is measured on an exponential scale.

In simple terms (the rule of 6)

+6dB = double the original value = 200%

- 6dB = half the original value = 50 % etc.

So 96 Db would be about 1.4 times as loud and 93.3Db(roughly). So Jak you car would only be 70% of the volume of a 96db Car (again roughly)

That's my intelligent post for the day :D

Jak Rizzo - June 23rd, 2005 at 05:31 PM

Thats really interesting Mike, but we made mine hit 96db by rasing the rev limit, & I can tell u now, it was nothing like that buggy.
At the end of the day, it sounds great!

Jak

this is off-track somewhat so I won't go into it, but 6dB is a doubling of the sound pressure level.

However doubling the sound power level is only an increase of 3dB.

But what matters is apparent loadness to a human, and I think that double the volume to the ear is more like a 10dB increase.

That's why even though a 200W speaker has twice the power of a 100W speaker, and therefore is a 3dB increase (double the power), it does not sound twice as loud to the ear.
