Anthony,

I chose a Pro Street RANCHO Transmission. We'll see if it holds up...

blutopless2 - July 16th, 2005 at 08:49 AM

that engine looks great!.... *drool* did you have to modify the engine lid to channel air through the intercooler?

71superbug - July 16th, 2005 at 03:53 PM

do you think that will hold up under such extreme power?

i have been told....that 200hp is about the safe limit to those rancho pro streets..thats 200hp at the flywheel.

Anthony,

You have to remember that the rating is for constantly giving the car 5000rpm and dumping it on the drag strip. With the suby motor this is not necessary due to the abundance of torque...

For street use with the occasional trip to the drags the Rancho will be fine!

Matt

71superbug - July 17th, 2005 at 09:31 AM

hmmm. am i wrong to assume that torque is what lunches gearboxes?

with this sort of power in the back (i imagine would be a fair wad more than your subie has) im sure he will want to give it a hard launch every now and then.

Fat chance of any Beetle-based box coping with that, I reckon...

71superbug - July 18th, 2005 at 06:27 AM

I am running an air duct underneath the car for the radiator.

For the intercooler, I am either going to mount 2 fans to it or take it off and run a staged methanol setup instead.

I'm pretty sure the GGR 2.5 conversions are based on US 2.5 Sti shortblocks, he normally has one on ebay uk..

Here is the sensor I mounted for the EMS Speed Input. I am using it for Traction Control and Vehicle Speed Dependant Boost Control.
