Just saw this pic of a Turboed EJ motor in a sandrail. Noticed that it has oil breathers. Was wondering if you could do the same to an N/A motor using
the standard computer? I guess a catch can setup would be better right?
Also, what gain in performance do you thing you'd get?
They sure do gunk up in the manifold dont they .I have seen a few WRX STI with the can set up .
no real performance benefit. If your motor is flogged out (or running too much boost) then you might get enough blow-by to induce a little knocking /
pinging. But a standard jap motor won't be near that point unless it is real high km.
You might attract police attention too. You'd need to remove the PCV valve, block the line into the manifold etc. I don't think they like removing
anything associated with emissions, and I think that even includes things like the PCV.

Do you really need it? Most catch cans/breathers on Commodores, STIs etc are shiny alloy ricey bits..not really needed but look 'foolly' with the bonnet up in Maccasnn[ Edited on 8-9-2005 by VWCOOL ]
they help in turbo applications more than NA, it will gunk up your intercooler with an oil layer and reduce efficiency.
just run them all together into a black can with a filter on top, or put in some media like a screen or something to catch the oil, and run a tube
going to the intake to suck out pressure, but not oil. i dont see how they would be illegal, they actually can make emmissions cleaner

my motor has done 82000 ks from japan , looking in side the inlet is BLACK from the breathers ?
ideas
mind you Wes at 8000rpm a bit of blow buy is good , try that with a VW air cooled motor :beer
