finally decided to go the type 1 route (cost and easy to install) for my EJ20 TT engine.
What gear ratios should I be getting to get the most out of my engine (have very little knowledge on the subject myself).
This is what I had in mind (based on info I found online)
3.88 ring and pinion
welded 3rd and 4th gears
rhino case
3.78 1st gear
2.06 2nd gear
1.48 3rd gear
1.04 4th gear
super differential
What are your thought on this setup please? (hope this still belongs in this part of the forum)
before you finally decide, there are a few guys experimenting with bus boxes putting the lockable diffs from vanagons in. Would work well for a
street/strip car! Then just get it re-geared for top end.

splined 1st and 2nd will be good too! and a LSD. when you drive it with a Limo you will be glad you spent the extra bucks!

oh and with the 1.04 4th and 3.88 RnP and 17'' wheels with 45 series rubber it will do 60ks at 2000 rpm 100ks at around 3500ish and a top speed of
210ks at 7000 rpm. thats what mines does anyways
alex
should mention that the wheels will be 18"
I have that exact combo on the bug.. I do about 3250rpm at 110kph....and when you plant it it feels as though you are second gear in most cars.
Oh, I have 16inch 50 series tyres.
