Does anyone know of a conversion of Subaru's H 6 3.0 l engine. It is such a great engine, 210 HP and 282 NM torque. It is just 5 cm longer than the
EJ 22, it would fit better into the enginebay of a beetle than the EJ 20 T.
There must be a conversion somewhere?? My local Subaru dealer has one for sale and got me thinking about it.

looks fairly compact, i would expect some one some where to have tried it. Isnt the engine out of a reasonably late model Suby?? Liberty??
Chase up some details,deffently interesting!!!!JVLRacing
There is one in a Caravelle/Transporter in the States.
Check out http://www.smallcar.com
If it isn't detailed on the site itself yet there is a posting on the forum.
It does look like an excellent engine for most purposes.
I have heard that they have to be revved a bit hard though so may not be suitable for some uses in busses.
With that much powere/torque though you have to wonder if it matters needing to rev it a bit!
I tried to find one here in Aus about a year ago, with no luck.
Andy.
I have a Subaroo 6 pack in my Caravelle.
But boof will fart-speak and tell you it is in an overseas car.
See the Is My T3 Normal thread.

VDubya one day will you please provide a post without having a dig at one person or another????
How about some useful information eg:
what Suby engine you have if it is relevant to subaruboxer's question.
Thanks, http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/images/smilies/thumbup.gif
Andy.

They always say those who tease the most cannot handle it. They also say people first resort to swearing, then violence when they are not intelligent
enough to respond! We better watch out!
All the useless punts you have posted after other people offer advice or ask for it, and all it took was the one tiny litte post.
Its a shame your buttons are so easy to push....its already boring.

I can read perfectly well thank you.
What I don't NECESSARILY want to do is look at another post to reference your comments to this post.
Jorg's question was about the late model H6, just in case YOU cant read.
By the way, there is no such thing as "a EJ33."
For a start, if there were such a thing, it would be "AN" EJ33.
However, there is no such thing anyway, Subaru's EJ series engines range from 20 to 25 I think. Their 3.3 litre capacity engine is an EG series.
Am I being pedantic?
Yes.
Why when I have been a member of this group for nigh on 2 years, and have never resort to such purile pedantry until now?
Because as Boof said, your buttons are easy to push, it's fun and I haven't tired of it.
Yet.
For all I know, Boof MAY be a d#** head but I have seen nothing to make me think that is the case. I'm afraid that what I have seen written by you
does not lead me to the same conclusion!
Jorg, sorry your post has been highjacked.
Mr. Moderator, feel free to delete my diatribe should you feel so inclined and can we deal with this guy and his negative postings?
Enough said, I have tired of it now and I will not respond to any more of VDubya's ridiculous posts. I will respond to your posts if you are willing
to partake in the normal, decent questions, discussions and yes, disagreements that make this section of Aussie Veedubbers such a useful resource to
all or us, you included, that like to play with our VW's this way.

Just do a search under Vdubya...ridiculous posts make up about 99% of them!
Matt
Hi
There was one at the 2003 nats, I think I have posted these photos before. I also remember that Graham Lees from Brokvale spares had 2.7 in a blue T3
in the early 90s.
Steve
Hi
This the one I meant to post.
Steve
Jorge , I have a Out back H6 and very impressed by the power of the motor , good quality .I have been over it with a tape many times and I am sure it
will fit .
What are they asking for it mate ?
Can you get the ecu with it ?
see if you can getthe cast headers , they may swap from left to right so the come out at pully end ( front )
If I was there I would buy it for my next project
Good spoting Mate .
& Matt :thumb
Ive got one in my outback too revs like theres no tomorrow :thumb
Thanks so far, it would be just the engine, no ecu or wiring harness and no header! The H 6 3.3 l is huge compared to the H 6 3.0 l engine. The 2005 model has even 245 HP and 297 Nm torque. Maybe that would be overkill for a beetle! Here two more pictures, not of the one on sale.

Mate you got rolled. Just take it on the chin and have the dignity to walk away. The fact that many people got it wrong does not make it right in any
case.
Oh and type2nut, as an English teacher I'm very proud!

Jorge ,buy it any way .
Shit I wonder if I can DHL it down under
Subaru america seem to think it's an EG33;
http://www.subaru-global.com/about/history/1991-001.html#subhead-001
Model : EG33
Type : Water-cooled, Horizontally-Opposed 6-cylinder, 24-valve
Bore x stroke : 96.9mm x 75.0mm
Engine displacement : 3,318cc
Compression ratio : 10.0
Max. output (ps/rpm) : 240/6,000
Max. torque (kg-m/rpm) : 31.5/4,800
some quotes;
The SVX's EG33 engine was an indirect development of the 2.7 L ER27 flat-6 from the XT6, expanded to 3,318 cc (96.9 mm bore by 75 mm stroke) and
equipped with dual overhead camshafts and 4 valves per cylinder. An increase in compression ratio to 10.0:1 brought power to 230 hp (172 kW) at 5,400
rpm and torque to 228 ft.lbf (309 Nm) at 4,400 rpm.
Subaru terms from http://www.legacygt.com/forums/printthread.php?t=585;
EG – Subaru 6-cylinder engines (up through mid to late 90’s)
EG33 – Subaru 3.3 litre 6-cylinder engine code (SVX)
EJ – Subaru 4-cylinder engines (early 90’s and newer)
EJ20 – Subaru 2.0 litre 4-cylinder engine code
EJ205 – Subaru 2.0 litre turbo engine (US WRX)
EJ22 – Subaru 2.2 litre 4-cylinder engine code
EJ25 – Subaru 2.5 litre 4-cylinder engine code
EJ255 – Subaru 2.5 litre turbo engine (US Forester XT, Baja Turbo)
EJ257 – Subaru 2.5 litre turbo engine (US WRX STi)
EZ – Subaru 6-cylinder engines (post EG series H6 engines)
EZ30R – Subaru 3.0 litre 6-cylinder engine code (BL/BP Legacy and new Outback)
From Japanese carview website;
http://catalogue.carview.co.jp/SUBARU/ALCYONE-SVX/1991/engines.asp
says it is an EG33
You could also go to a SVX forum, mention EJ33 and be laughed at.
I guess to prove everyone wrong you'd need to post a pic of an EJ33 engine number.
Hi
Theres a T3 fitted with a 2.7 Suby on the 4 sales at moment on the Club VeeDub Sydney site http://www.clubvw.org.au
Steve
oh for christ sake does it matter, its the Outback 6 hes on about, it was a fair question.
cmon guys - find somewhere else for your argument I dont care whos right or wrong - some of us are interestedi n the engine/ info i just had to read a big load of s*** to get this far. Please no more just tech info.
Measured the H 6 / EZ 30 yesterday that my subaru dealer has for sale. That is an impressive engine.
It is 81 cm wide, 46,5 cm long , 61 cm high and weights
169 kg.
Checked the enginebay of my bug, it would probably fit in.
But my trans is moved forward ( L-bug box), and the trans would be to weak for that much torque.
I would need a stronger box, a Porsche box is longer. That could still work with cutting out the torsion bars. Or maybe a bustrans with a bellhousing
of WWW.rjes.com would work. But I don't know the measurements of those boxes and how much abuse
they can take.
But for a kombi or a type three (notch) this engine is a good option.

apparently (and I speak only from what I have heard) the bus trans can take massive abuse esp when you run a 091 with the Type 25 syncro diff. I have
heard of a drag bug supposedly running 400+bhp?? over here with this set up - apparently after breaking lots of gearboxes this is what this guy
settled for (i believeit might be Richie Webb?? a convertable beetle)
The extra advantage of the syncro diff is that you have a switchable diff lock - now that sounds like fun!!
Anyway none of thats based on my personal experience I heard it thru the grape vine when someone was telling me I would break the 091 2litre bus box
in my van so make of it what you may!! . But im gona break mine first before I spend huge amounts on built boxes!!
oops forgot to say - when I get my RJES bell housing onto my 2ltr 091 box next week I can do you some rough measurements of the whole unit if that helps?
Hi richbaker78,
yes that would be nice of you.
