ej20t into a square
jonjon86 - November 17th, 2005 at 12:34 PM

I'm not ready to do it but i just wanted to know if it has been done.

If so, how hard is it.

And how did you set up the cooling system.

I'm not ready to do it right now. the 1835cc is still going strong. Just wondered if it was possible if i ever came into a bit of extra money.

Maybe you are not reading properly now.

I think he is talking about a squareback.

He is also asking for those who have done it, not those who looked at it.

And he also asked about the cooling sytem which you somehow didn't mention at all.

Where's Glenn? He's just done one into a Fastback I believe? Maybe he can fill you in on how he put it in and what space issues he came across.

Yeah, I co-ordinated/specced the install into my mate's (GTMac) Fastback. Don't bother with a Square unless you want to build a raised, sealed, insulated box to cover the engine. Notches and Fastys are great because the 'luggage area' is easily converted to an 'engine bay' as it is NOT shared with the passenger compartment

Radiator up front in the spare wheel well...TMac found a cheapo Hyundai unit with twin thermos and cut the front under the bumper to let in air.

Thanks heaps guys.

I think I like the space in the back of my car a little too much to raise the floor so EJ20 powered it is not to be.

No worries. I'lll just have to keep on upgrading VW powerplants.

Thanks for all your help
