Believe it or not, I drive the bug daily...about 400kms a week and there is not a time when it does not put a smile on my face. For some reason it is
screaming at present.
Monday....evo8 lancer(worked) held 3 cars from stand still and roll starts pulled away, Tuesday GTIR Pulsar...pulled easily 7 cars on a roll start in
second...Wednesday E30 convertible BMW with a stroked 2.8 litre turbo 6cylinder.....He had never been beaten he told me when he caught up.
Anyone want a ride...pop by Beecroft and then go to a Jap wreckers for an engine.
Big Smiles! BIG Smiles!
Matt
so why is is so fast Matt ?:bounce
Matt,
That is awsome!! What is the specs of the car, trans, and rear tire size. I am in the process, and I cant wait! Thanks for the additional
information; it allows me to continue on the project knowing of a positive outcome.
Thanks,
Alden in Central Illinois
You're all naughty boys.
So when are you blokes going to run a 1/4 mile ? (I realise you are both using fairly standard boxes, so soft starts would be the order of the day,
but still) Would love to see some times....
Would love a ride, but 4000km is a long way to fly for a ride....
Jak,
I told someone the other day who asked about your car that you had a Hillman Hunter 4 cylinder engine in it with a bigger carbie.
Brendan
Just tell them it's a flat 4 Jak....you won't be lying. :P
LOL. Time to move onto more obscure combinations when you explain it to them. Heard you go past in Gosford on the weekend. Said to my brother, there goes Jak. Didn't see you at first, but just caught the roof.
We think the wastegate was dirty and not sealing properly. My mate Dave who has helped me from the start used to have a 10.4 second rotary, went in it
tonight and could not believe the difference. He will be running also in my car...and he has bet me $100 he can run in the 11's. The spool up is
instant..like there is no turbo.Any gear it will throw you back in your seat when you give it throttle..thats where its impressive. I have wanted to
run it the last few weeks, although either next wed or the week after easter.
A quick dyno run first and we are sweet.
I have 3.88 ssp...with 235 50 16's on the back.
I have just had a good couple of outings, god knows I was searching for months for quick cars to play with..with my intercooler ducting and the
drip/spray sprinkler system, thrashing around the streets intake temps were at 21-25 degrees and drove to Appin(130kms) and back also at 3pm and they
were at 20-22 constant. Crazy Low!!!
The more bugs wasting the quicker street cars the better I say.
Matt
I tell people that mine is a 1200 with twin electric superchargers. Thus the fan noise. Reckon its good for about 55hp.
Matt
when are youfitting the new donk ?
The more bugs wasting the quicker street cars the better I say.
Matt
Can we include a Fasty in that catergory as well??? It wont happen over night but it will happen.............I keep telling myself that.
As I cruze in my speed machine X-Trail Im always coming up to scenarios pulling my hair out wishing I was in the Fasty, some reason it always seems to
involve a WRX on its way back home to Bankstown.
Hi
Now you guys have reputation (talking cars here) you can fit stock motors in you cars and everyone will still bee scared. I always seemed to pull up
next to ideal targets when driving my work ute.
Boof, what intercooler are you using now?
Steve
Just got a new engine...its sitting where the back seat is supposed to be..I'm turning towards the mid mount idea more and more. Anyway...its a 2002
wrx with 51k...cheap,cheap.
I have made intakes in the rear gaurds that feed into the old type set up....its a more compact box with the ducting feeding from the gaurds in each
side. It has the same fans on it, although they do not need to be on when on the move. I turn them on in traffic as it prevents heat soak(suabru
problem) and keeps things way cooler. It also has the bunnings warehouse sprinkler system with a 20 ltre bottle under the bonnet. It actually drips
slowly without the pump on, thus keeping things a little cooler anyway. I have a tap in the car, or else if I do not turn off the water line it will
empty the bottle if on a hill. I went to pick up the engine yesterday from Newcastle in the bug at 10.30am and had 12 degee intakes averaging about
3600 rpm. On the way home the water bottle was out, the day had got hotter and was cruising with an ac cobra at about 4000rpm average...thus the air
intake temps were ambient at 24 degrees.
I do not think I will be able to beat these temps without alot of trialing and cost.
I am making some new fuel rails this week, then maybe a little 50hp nos kit.
Also got a one owner 66 splitty 11 window with 63000 original miles from central qld....shall we chop it ? Put a 500hp motor in it or keep it
original? Probably the latter, its a little to good to improve.
Matt
Hey, I was just wondering if I could ask you guys a few questions.
*Where are your radiators?
*What boxes are you running?
*How complete is the interior of your vehicles?
Thanks,
-Staggers.
Boof & Jak how are the rear tyres holding out with the extra weight and latural forces .My engineer in Vic will let me go the subie but I have to put the body through a torsin test andcurrent ADR,s.
Tell him you found another engineer that will do it , next he will ask for a crash test .
V boy have a read through the pages mate , you will see
I have also had no tyre problems, I have Pirelli Dragons...they are holding up fine.
My specs are pretty much the same as Jaks, except there is a little less room for the radiator. I have all the interior except the back seats which
are just a bit bulky. I have a nice smaller double seat that I got out of an older range rover which was used as the third row.
Looks like my clutch is slipping slightly at high revvs....here is the opportunity to slip in the 2002 wrx motor, custom fuel rails and a vf34.
matt.
Hey Jak, can you call me, its been a week since you know what and quiet frankly I am a bit nervous your avoiding me. I also need Pauls# I have lost
it.
matt:thumb:thumb:kiss
Jak it must have been the new wiring loom that did it!
Congratulations!
Lucky they didn't see the wing nuts holding the engine in.
Brendan
Congrates Jak....thats a great looking trophy! I am suprised you didn't get one for "Best & Fastest Engineered".......for the 5 week engine
conversion.
New Wiring Loom?? I heard you had electrical problems but I am hoping they were in the front of the car not the back....I hope it is all OK?
I saw your car at the show I like the way the air feed is held up to the air filter....where can I get some?
Cheers Paul
Sir Jacko:thumb Best Engineered...pinkskirts and electrical:P
Thanks Jak.
-Staggers.
Who's trophy is that???? Do you have to give it back at the end of the year?
JVL, what has Jak got to do with pink skirts??
Enters where?
Nice work Jak, when are all the Subis going to get together? How about a day at Wakefield Park soon? I'm willing to arrange it or we just invade a
"speed off the street" day?
Matt you got to stop screwing with people OK, BMW owners don't like that kind of stuff......
I popped 3rd gear last week on lap 20 in session 2 at Wakefield, lost 3 teeth on third. Lucky I had another $100 gearbox to replace it.:thumb
Take it back Jak........that sucks.:P

Book the day...would love to go racing.
My mate....or maybe not, just picked up an astra turbo which he thought was quick! Why are poeple so stupid? No research, just drove it after a cooper
s and thought it was great...need I say more!
Matt
