the toyota is a good budget unit from what I hear. I suppose it depnds how much you want to spend. What's your budget?

Get one of them Autorotor PD jobbies from AEC just down the road...

There is a factory type one that comes out of Japan...Seagull had it, or a pic of it. It sits directly under a raised manifold where the alternator usually is and feeds the underside I guess.

what are they?

kevo - May 8th, 2006 at 11:24 PM

MY MATES ALL USED TO USE YOYOTA SUPERCHARGERS ON 350 CHEVs AND THEIR DRAG 308s

they managed to run in the 12's so the chargers are tough units and i dont recall them ever having a problem with them

ricola - May 9th, 2006 at 04:42 PM

Has anyone tried one of those centrifugal superchargers on a subaru? (basically crank driven turbo compressors..)

Rich

The post was mine Matt & lads from work

I am going to have a look at a toyota 1GGE ( SC14 ) unit around $380.00

this is from a 2ltr toyota

so what will you do. score a spare inlet manifold, weld up the throttle body mount, cut the top off and put on a mounting plate for the blower?

gull - May 10th, 2006 at 11:32 AM

yes I just landed another two legacy quad cam motors for $66.66 each :P

feeding the air in from the under side

Definetely get the SC14, the one off the 4AGZE 1600 will be way too small.

You would need to turn ti upside down ? to normal orientation, not sure if you can do this as they run an oil resevoir somewhere I think..... worth checking out the lubrication system anyways. I know the rotor lobes are teflon coated, and they are a solid little unit.... have seen them on all sorts of engines from nissan 3ltr to commodore 3.8s....

From memory there is a max rotor rpm reccomended, I cant remember if it is 11,000rpm or 14,000rpm..... above this you get rotor damage......

Google it, theres bound to be some good info out there.

However, there are companies over east ( I think CAPA used to do one) that do kits with Eatons and the like, from memory when I was looking at it for the liberty they were about the $5 - 6k mark

gull - May 10th, 2006 at 04:24 PM

The CPA kit with the eaton is up side down Doug , sea gull
Christain has one of these

seagull - May 11th, 2006 at 01:34 AM

Adrew tells me his ej20 quad cam made 120hp at the wheels

so what would a eaton m90 do to it in hp

I am on edge in geting one !

boof2332 - May 14th, 2006 at 12:17 PM

This is the eaton on Moggy in England. Is a type 4 motor with the merc one of the 2.3 slk.

The DLI Blower kit is around $4000 landed.

seagull - May 18th, 2006 at 02:41 AM

That carbi I had one of them once .

with 10.1 compression I think I am going to have problems with a blower .I need to get it down to 8.1

so I take the heads off pop the pistions out & machine them out a bit .

head gaskets are going to cost more than the motor !

man I going to be getting in to this project very soon , good I love subaru motors

Doug Sweetman - May 18th, 2006 at 01:53 PM

Always loved the DLI kit - its just so over the top you cant go past it..... there was a 1303 in the UK (white one) that had a DLI blower on it in Volksworld a while back... real nice :)

Unfortunately that car was burnt out after a fire in his garage when he was working on it...

I used the supercharger off a igg motor on a nissan vg20 @ idle inlet temps were 90c had it coming on @ 30% throttle 600+ NM of torque @ 7500rpm if you run it all of the time use a intercooler also used Altronics ecu .If your got the money Autorotor.

boof2332 - May 20th, 2006 at 08:17 AM

Tad warm on the intake side...you wouldnt think it would generate that much heat. Yesterday morning in the fog, on the m2 when I just got in the car I had intake temps at -1 for about 1 minute. I tried ringing 4 mates to tell them, although they were all on the phone...Jak, Paul, Dave and Chris...who is on th phone at 630am?

Doug Sweetman - May 20th, 2006 at 10:24 AM

-1, mmm thats c h i l l y !! :P

90c @ idle is definetely warm - wonder what was going on there - were you running stock drive ratio on the blower ? Maybe the lobe seals were on their way out ?

but really, who cares if it made 600NM !!!!! thats a torque monster :)

chriSTIan - May 23rd, 2006 at 11:02 PM

The s/c is mine.
I bought it 2nd hand, its a CAPA(south oz) made kit which was made a few years ago for ej22's.
It comes with all pulleys ,wiring new cast manifold with the eaton sandwiched b/w top of manifold and block.
Was running great in the original owners car.
It will eventually find its way in a lib wgn manual awd.
Also have lift kit, outback wheels for it.
I own a turbo wgn,i want to hear and feel the difference b/w the 2.

malcolm - May 24th, 2006 at 09:38 AM

turbo will be smoother and better top end ,having the s/c coming on at different throttle positions can come on hard and give a kick .22years ago I had a ta22 celica using a kkk turbo @250 hp so I prefer the turbo.the s/c was my wifes cars so below 30% throttle she wasn't on boost so that what she told me.But the AutoRotor units would be better than the toyota vane type .
