wouldnt that red sleeper get some attention!

rocknrob - June 28th, 2006 at 06:22 PM

very clever radiators on the red one...

bus914 - June 28th, 2006 at 06:54 PM

i like the red one, although i doubt it would be faster than a turbo efi vw stroker (how much does that thing weigh), but maybe you could even have a stock looking single port motor in the back just to really confuse people.:D

baybuscamperkid - June 29th, 2006 at 10:59 PM

at least the engine is where non-veedubbers expect to find it!

pete wood - June 30th, 2006 at 10:05 AM

neither would handle very well. both motors are quite forward of the front axle.

But yes, the red one is quite a sleeper.

mackaymanx - June 30th, 2006 at 10:18 AM

But at heart are they still VW's, about the only thing left is the body shell.

kroozzn63 - June 30th, 2006 at 10:37 AM

wats in the boot?

kevo - June 30th, 2006 at 08:39 PM

subibaja - July 4th, 2006 at 11:13 PM

YOU,D WANNA HOPE IT WAS A BLOODY BIG FUEL TANK IN THE BOOT AND NOT A STANDARD BEETLE ONE

Hi

I saw a 350 chev powered bug run at the drags, it ran in the 14s, but Im sure you it could have gone much quicker but it was setup on the conservative side.

I agree that having a big lump in front would make the car handle poorly. Thats why I like Hugo from Mexicos take on a V8 in a bug.

Mid engine tubular chasis, with a V8 4.2l 32 valve From Audi A8, 5sp. trans from Audi A4

Hugo you sick c*!t thats gunna be great!

ok, how does hugo change gears tho? the shifter is in the engine bay...

how does the power go from the trans to the wheels? even if a diff was put in now the wheel base would be simular to a kombi rather than a beetle, from the second pic the end of trans is as far back as the wheels should be...

maybe i missed sumthin in pic,

great street rod if it was licenced!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

kroozzn63 - July 5th, 2006 at 01:37 PM

a couple of cables and pulleys and springs n shait should do that
with a fomular one stlye paddle shift

ricola - July 5th, 2006 at 05:03 PM

Kevo,
the A4 uses a transaxle (logitudinally mounted engine with front wheel drive). The diff is already in it, you should be able to see the output flanges in the right place...

Bizarre - July 5th, 2006 at 05:22 PM

about 5(?) years ago there was a Boris(?) picnic day down near Tom Uglys bridge. Some one turned up in an oval that had a chev V 8 in the front??

He had just registered it. ???

Anyone know the car i am talking about??

Steve C??

1303Steve - July 5th, 2006 at 09:46 PM

Hi

The black Oval is onwed by Steve McCuddin, it was at the nationals a few years ago, it ran a 302 on LPG and was on an old Ford Anglia chassis because that was the only way it could registered.

You can read more about Hugos VW on the German Look forums, one of my other favorite places to look.

As Rich said the Audi trans is a transaxle, just like a VW bug, also Im pretty sure that Kombis had the same wheelbase as bugs.

Steve

RENNWAGEN - July 5th, 2006 at 11:02 PM

Your right Steve same wheel base very nearly same length.

seagull - July 9th, 2006 at 01:50 AM

1303Steve - July 10th, 2006 at 08:20 PM

Hi Neil

Not sure, but you could turn it upside down.
