I've had some troubles with my adapter for my EJ22. First I destroyed half the crankshaft bolts when I trail fitted the flexplate and spacer because
the PCD(66 mm) on the spacer was out to buggery. Flexplate side of spacer was ok but crank side was out because the hole weren't drilled straight.
Rang up supplier who apoligised said he'd replace the bolts and spacer, I decided it was easier to fix up the spacer myself (quicker than going down
to the post office, etc). Put it down to bad luck. But this is not the end of the story. Today I fixed the spacer and bolted up the adapter, more
drama. Bottom two countersunk bolts were real loose going in, so I checked them. They should have been M10 X 1.25 but no they were 3/8" B.S.F (20
t.p.i) What the F#@% .Now I'm pissed off, I've paid good money for this and I find myself double checking everything. As a machinist myself the
quality control was done at work not left for the customer to pick up, That's what they pay for.
Sorry you guys had to read through me venting my spleen, I feel much better now though.

I know COR had quality problems with my adapter plate and flywheel, who they got from the same supplier as you...:cussing
Well this supplier has been making adapters for long enough to be able to get it right. His quality control sucks.
Hi,
I recognise that adaptor, I am running the same in my kombi and I also have had some significant issues.
Besides the ones you have mentioned, also double check the thickness of the crank to flex plate spacer. The torque converter bolts fouled on the
adaptor plate on mine, so I had to use the 3mm thick plate subaru normally placed on the torque converter side of the auto flex plate BEHIND the flex
plate to prevent this.
Needless to say i am yet another unhappy customer from we all know who, however I am unaware of any alternatives at the moment - particularly for
autos!!!!
I think there is an opening in the australian market for a manufacturer of a quality adaptor plate.
Where did you guys get yours from? I've had no problems with mine at all...

Not sure we are allowed to name names on the forum in this type of context. I think this can cause problems for the moderators.
If anyone really want's to know PM mackay manx or myself.
Some of the issues we are discussing are unique to the auto adaptors, the manuls are better, but have their own issues - usually associated with bolts
lining up and poor thread tapping.
I made my own for my auto
stock flex plate with a drive hub & adapter plate
I am not one for the stock mounts & do not counter sink the lower holes on the ones I made .
before the unit was put in the mill
Thanks for the info on the flexplate/adapter clearance, I will check that today(more quality control work). I'm mating mine to a type 3 auto hope that makes a difference.
Clearance is ok. Flywheel seem ok too
*Update* flywheel is not ok, tried to bolt up pressure plate and can only get three bolts in at a time, and one bolt not at all. I've seen first year
apprentices do a better job that this. I'll have to get the file out yet again to make things fit.In case you are confused I got a flywheel and
flexplate when I ordered my kit to suit my future plans.

My brother bought a manual adapter from that supplier years ago and it didn't fit properly either.... The threaded holes were loose for the supplied
studs and the dowel holes didn't line up either!..... and don't get me started on the FKW!!!.....I bought my first adapter (for me SVX conversion)
from Unicap and was very happy with the quality.... Neil has done my latest one (for an EJ25) and it is very nice.... especially the FW....
On another note.... Hey Col.... When you gonna drop by next?... You owe me a ride in that monster bus!
