I would like to know if some one has done RPM shift set points with a 2ltr kombi gear box ?
Steve , was this you mate
Seagull
i had the pleasure of a little drive in this type of set up over the weekend.
with the shift light glowing at 7500 rpm!
having said that, the box has slightly different ratios to a standard 2L
first 85 km/h
second 128
third 185
fourth 260
....gotta love Mr Albins and his straight cut gears!!!
If you know tyre sizes and ratios I can graph it and e-mail it to ya
try this one Neil...

didn't bump into you or your car all weekend Steve, were you there????
my excel dyno does that. Enter your dyno curve and it lets you know the best shift points

If you have a real flat torque curve then the best shift point will be redline. but if the torque curve drops off before redline then the best shift
point might be before redline.
Thanks Lads
hey Neil....

i will get the ratios for the box i detailed above soon. i know that's as big as you can go on second without removing reverse gear. i can tell you
first hand that 260Kw (28psi!) at the wheels had no problems pushing any of the above gears what so ever!!! in fact relentless acceleration is the
most adequate description i can come up with. watch out for wheel spin at 160km/h tho-EVEN with 11 inch slicks!:kiss
you might want to keep this in the book of future plans too...

I have my motor & gear box sitting in the back of the bug .
I cut the rear off the bug today & made a jig to hold the motor off the floor .I have run the shifter linkage accross the top of the tunnel , rose
joints will suport it
The ( part ) above I have coming down in Pauls gear box .can not tell you the other bits but one like this will look like this
& paul will get his back on the box
