How do people set up their exhaust with an EJ engine........(there doesnt seem to be a great deal of room between the water inlet and the exhaust headers)

cut up the stock headers and turn them around. then weld them back together and bend up an exhaust.

here you go.

here is the driver's side primary....

and the passenger's side primary..

they both go into a T piece, the pass side on the back and you can't really see it here, and then into an expansion joint. I'm using the factory cat.

here is the cat and muffler. it's a bypass type design and the exhaust is very quiet which means the cops have never pulled me up.

thanks pete, do you notice any probs with the exhaust and water pipe so close, was worried about heating up the pipe, or even melting the rubber??

you mean in the first pic?

No, the cat gets way hotter than the primaries. it's up round 600deg or so I am told. the water pipes seem to be fine. the only time I've had dramas with rubber melting was when 2 cyls had a missfire and the cat was getting too much fuel. then the rubber mounts were smoking in a few spots, but ordinarily it's all fine.

BTW, I like micks setup. much slicker than mine. :thumb

This is my exhaust, the length of the pipes are not the same from each side of the engine, this gives it more of the "wrx" note as the headers in a wrx are much the same. I cut the original headers off and put a in a140deg 2" s/s bend + straight from the right hand side to bring it to the left where it joined onto the left hand side. It then does a big 180degree bend and goes back to the right with the car converter and muffler.
